Patrick's Photos: Summer 2004 |

Previous Seasons |
I missed Georgetown (I mean the kids, as the place is only 15 minutes away) when I got home at first. But there's plenty to do here that I'll keep busy, and I try to keep in touch with all those gtowners. I'm looking forward to next semester, I got a new room, new roommate, and some new transfer students. Still, I think I'll try to enjoy Summer as much as possible.
These two I took with Maggie. She likes photos too. See more of her photos here, I'm in the home section hugging a traffic cone I believe. We, the Georgetown kids in this area over summer, have been going downtown a lot on these first few weekends since the end of school to catch up on museams and monuments. Here's a photo of Jenn downtown on June 5th, and one of her in the kitchen from the 11th. I went to the Potomac Celtic Festival on June 12th. Lot's of celtic fun was had, and much of my money was spent. Not by me but by this little one. Yes, that's Maggie and yes she is crafty. On the whole it went well till I made the mistake of calling one of her boytoys and she scampered off to do stuff with him. Here she is with Bethany, her butterfly friend, her by a tree, and me and her sitting in a tree. Note the bag of bread, as she recalled her title as keeper of bread. The entertainment was bagpipe dominated. They even had the crazy game where you try to throw a telephone pole straight. Here's two photos of those oh so sexy bagpipers, and one shot of the celtic band, Slainte Mhath, who we got to see perform. You can also listen to some of the bagpipers, and even catch a nice melody of the practicing flutist near whom we ate lunch (lamb burgers). On June 27th, Jenn, Caroline, and I went to the National Zoo to enjoy the absolute perfect summer day. We saw a lot of birds, including this ibis and this flock of flamingos. My favorite animal is the Buffalo, so here's a photo of me (1st photo with short hair), Jennifer, and a buffalo's behind (Jenn's on the right), and a side photo of said buffalo. Later that day Jenn and I shopped in her now native Alexandria, looking for assorted crazy items like loose tea and victorian armchairs. Here's a photo of her under a tree in Market Square. On Tuesday the 29th, Carloine, Maggie, and myself rocked out to a concert at Wolf Trap. I went to see my homeboy, Rufus Wainwright, Caroline went for her boys, Guster, and Maggie went for... the heck of it? During Ben Fold's set (who cares about that dork?) we went to the side and met the guitarist from Guster, which rocked Caroline's world, and he took the cookies she had made for the band. After the show we also met the drummer (who uses his hands instead of sticks) which rocked her already rocking world until the park service (those bastards) kicked us all out so they could go home. Here's that beautiful young Maggie trying out my pipe during Ben Fold's set and one of Caroline being inconcievably happy. Here's two clips of Rufus talking, one about our local Washington cowboys, and one about Wolf Trap. If you want some Rufus music, just IM me and I'll give you my IP address where you can download ALL of Rufus. No kidding. ALL Rufus. The song he did with loser Ben Folds, Carless Whisper, that we missed is avalable here. Jackie's photos of the event can be found here, and lastly, Maggie's review of the concert is here with photos here. Jason brought his girlfriend Rachel and friend Jackie up to McLean on July 9th just for the day. Chris and I caught up with them at Lebnan Zeman, a hookah bar in Vienna. He'd planned on having a party at his house, but stupid friends left messages on his answering machine, and his parents, who were in Charlottesville, checked thier answering machine remotely only to here stange kids wondering about a party. Here are some photos from that night. First one of Jackie at Lebnan Zeman, then Jason and Rachel looking extremely cute (and really tired from not sleeping, as Jason drove from 11 PM to 5 AM that morning to get them). Here's a re-enactment of Jason licking sugar off my hand. The stunt was so good, it had to be re-enacted for cameras. And actual fotage of Jason blowing smokerings! While discussing what to do, Jason and I climbed things in the parking lot, including a lamp post and the thatch covered roof of an outdoor resturant patio. We ultimatly decided to go back and jump on my trampoline. On July 16th Chris, Jason, and I were going to go to a party with one of Chris' co-workers from Senator Frist's office. When Chris told me the address, 101 F Street, I was appalled. The bookstore where I work is 100 F Street. This was actually at Gewirz, the dorm across the street from where I spend my days. Anyways it was fun and this kid was there, I think his name was Andrew. As it came to pass, I found another excuse to spend hours with Maggie, cause, well, that's what makes me happy, and today it was to shoot up to The City, New York, for a whirlwind double-feature film and photo fest. Top billing was Garden State, Zack Braff's acclaimed new work, which was one Maggie was dying to see since the trailer before Eternal Sunshine. Next was Donnie Darko: Director's Cut. It was more movie and more info and more money and a little better. Here's some photos: Us on the train, two of Maggie blissfully happy (her own description), and one of Maggie the frantic motion machine. And here's some of our artistic photographs, a fancy train across some ugly tracks, a lake on the rainy way up, and entering Penn Station in NYC. Maggie took more, a gagillion more, some of which are here. Her rundown of the events is found here. My cousin Mark came down for the weekend between July and August, we toured some sites together with my cousin Tim, who now lives in Arlington. The second week in August my family and I decided to vacation in our childhood haunt of Bethany Beach, Delaware. It's weird back here, being so much older now then when I remember it, but I'm appreciating it more now. I realize how nice it really is being able to bike to the grocery store and back. On Tuesday we went to Assateague Island just south of here. That's the one with the horses, so here's a photo of me with one. Note the hair, all I can say is it was windy. The island is mostly marsh, with nice ocean beaches, but we seriously didn't want to be bothered by piles of horse shit or the tiny crabs that owned this place, so we went on a walk, but even there the mosquitoes made us turn back after a while. On the path we found and awesome tree my sister sat in, and the ruins of Baltimore Avenue, which was ruined by a storm in the 50's, before the island was a national park. "So. 3rd St." comes off Baltimore, but there's not much reason for a sign. After that break, it was back to making Maggie happy, which is something I think I'm getting pretty good at. Jen, an old friend from way back elementary stlye, Maggie, and I went out to Great Falls Park and Arbie's for some old fashioned fun. Note the one where Jen is sqeezing Maggie, that's supposedly Maggie's orgasm face. Right-o, what really made the girl sqeal was when I light up the fog with my headlights, and she took photos of it, this is one of her walking back towards the light. Next day was the day of the big ivy covered house trip to Montross, Virginia that we'd been planning since Maggie first spotted this house a few weeks back. Good day, I'd say. Many photos taken. Here's some: The house itself, berrys that grew outside it, sunflowers on the side of the road, and rays of sunlight on the drive home. Here's a cool photo of clouds over Tyson's Corner, and one of my pal Yousef driving his brand spaking new RAV4. Art time again! Here's a portrait I did for Maggie going back to school, and Alana's rock carving. Bet you didn't know I could carve rocks did ya? If you can't tell, it's a rose, with the the city of Bagnoreggio (my sister's favorite city when we were last in Italy) on the left, and "Alana 19" over the sun in the corner. |
