Well that semester's over. And I'm happy that it's over. I see I put more photos up for it than either one last year. Lot's happened, and some of it was even positive.
The day after Christmas my sister, my Dad, and I went downtown to check out the Capitol Christmas Tree. Alana had heard that it was from Virginia and decked out in UVA colors. We figured it was the tree at the White House, but that one sucked. So we went down to the Capitol and that was much nicer. The lights are blue and orange, even if you can't tell in the photographs. On January 4th I flew to Seattle to visit Alex Johnston. It was great. A perfect mix of vaction, relaxation, extravagance, hedonism, and absurdity. Landing at 1 AM on the 5th, we proceded to see Seattle. Go home, eat, and then at 4 AM, to head out on our adventures. After catching a few hours sleep in the car, we drove over Deception Pass onto Whidbey Island. The place is amazing, and I began to understand Alex's love of the Pacific Northwest. On the way home we caught the sunset from the bridge, though this picture does not remotely do it justice. While driving around Whidbey Island, Alex spotted a cool mound, and decided to stand on top of it. Once there we saw the thousands of driftwood logs that covered Admirality Bay. Starting with the basic premise of getting some of these to stand up, we ended up with three impressive monuments on top of this hill. The next day we departed for Alex's cabin on the coast. Caught some mexican on the way, and enjoyed a blissful childish day of Legos, Fire, and SimCity. On the second night there it snowed and after some investigation we decided that some fireworks were in order. Early success only made us more daring. For my final day there, we voyaged out to Crystal Mountain for some skiing action. Here's one of Alex, me, and Mount Renier, only Renier is bashful, and hates photos of herself. Like all good this, this was good. But it also ended. I snaped shot of Phoenix, quite a city, while re-traversing this great country. |
